Q : Is feng shui superstitious? A : No, feng shui is not superstitious. Neither has it got to do with religious or spiritual practice. It is true that many geomancers freely incorporate religious rituals into their feng shui practice but this is because they believe that these religious rituals can cure bad feng shui. Whether you believe in this or not is up to each individual. There is also another reason for this widespread practice which has to do with marketing. In the "Thirteen principles of Yang Dwellings" found in the popular feng shui classic "Xuan Kong Shen Shi Xue", it was mentioned that a house which is too dark and lack sufficient light (too much Yin energy) tend to attract "visiting spirits". When this condition is coupled with the presence of flying star 2 or 5, then a ghost will haunt the house. Q : Is there a difference in a Geomancer's LuoPan and a western compass? A : No, there is no difference. The needle in a Luopan is no different from that in a western compass. Q : There seems to be many different types of LuoPans? Which one should I use? A : There are many different brands in the market but generally, LuoPans are of two types only : San Yuan and San He. Which Luopan to use depends on which school you practise. The five factors are Destiny, Luck, Feng Shui, Virtue and Education. Q : Will feng shui work for me? A : Yes, generally, feng shui will work for all people. However, its effect on different people varies. There are also occasions when feng shui measures cannot be implemented to the fullest, no matter how hard a geomancer tries. This is because the ability of a geomancer to implement feng shui measures is restricted by surrounding circumstances. In such cases, its effect might not be felt. Q : How is feng shui related to destiny? A : There is a mutual relationship between destiny and fengshui. Generally, when a person is going through a lucky era, the feng shui of his house will be good.
